Jessica Jones will Return
If you’re anything like me then you’ll remember when Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Gaydos took the comic book world by storm at the tail end of 2001. The Bendis and Gaydos take on the Jessica Jones character in Jessica Jones: Alias was a gritty exploration of the comic book medium. It was part comic book, part prose procedural, part diary, part scrapbook, and all awesome. It was an elevation of the character and set the standard by which the Jessica Jones Netflix show would be measured against. The foul-mouthed, down in the trenches, neo-noir detective made famous to the mainstream by alt-girl Krysten Ritter.
Fast forward to September 2026 with the announcement that Bendis and Gaydos will be returning for a 5 issue mini-series that inserts the reader back into the superhero-underbelly of Jessica Jones’s world. Bendis told Entertainment Weekly this:
“Jessica has, since her debut, been something very different in my life,” Bendis told EW. “There’s something very emotional and intimate about the way [people] talk about her. It’s always been the best kind of conversation you could ever hope to have with readers. People see themselves in her and love her and root for her. All of that is in this series.”

This brand new limited-series is set after Jessica’s tenure as the First Lady of New York. Where she’s looking to get back to basics – but things are rarely that simple for the super-strong Private Investigator. Because a simple abduction case is going to drag her into the most obscure and bizarre corners of the Marvel Universe. With a promise from Marvel Comics that Jessica will find herself tested like she’s never been tested before!
Renowned cover artist David Mack, who also worked on the original series, is also back for this brand new Jessica Jones tale. With cover artists Corin Howell, Ito and Miguel Mercado also joining the fray. So, if you’ve heard enough then go ahead and preorder Jessica Jones: Alias at your local comic shop today!
