About HEALTH
Los Angeles noise merchants HEALTH have been at it since 2005. They built their name on a sound that probably shouldn’t work on paper — abrasive industrial noise smashed up against tribal drums, icy synths, and weirdly delicate vocals that sound like they’re being whispered from the next room over.
I originally discovered HEALTH during a late night doomscroll about four years ago when I came across DISCO4 :: PART II. I remember being enthralled at the dystopian resonance of their industrial rock collaboration with Poppy. A song which still, to this day, sounds like the last embers of a dying world.
Since that time, I’ve been fortunate enough to catch HEALTH in a live setting at Knotfest Australia 2025. Which felt like I was watching a band harness the styles of Fear Factory and Placebo simultaneously. Thankfully, I’ll be catching them again later in 2026 as they return to Australia for their second (or third) tour.
Addendum is a new seven-track EP that was released on April 30th, 2026. It features guest spots from Filter, Chelsea Wolfe, Bad Omens and Swarm.

Addendum Review
If you’ve had a friend who’s asked what HEALTH sound like then Addendum is a decent snapshot. Thanks to the work they did on their DISCO4 compilation, they’ve surpassed the title of just musicians and have levelled up to sound producers. This is obvious on tracks like Free to Die, Mean and The Drain, where they’re able to tap into the style that make those four artists so iconic yet amalgamate them into the HEALTH sound.
Free to Die gives off early Filter vibes circa the heavy rock/nu-metal hit “Hey Man, Nice Shot. Mean allows the haunting melodies of Chelsea Wolfe to simmer and infect you, sounding like Mariqueen Maandig’s How to Destroy Angels. While The Drain is hard hitting pop-metal, thanks to Bad Omens vocalist Noah Sebastian, will make your girlfriend wet – despite the Swarm inclusion being inconsequential. Then when you go back for a second listen, realising yes, that’s a Deftones cover, guaranteed to make your girlfriend cum – you’ll question yourself asking “wait – did she just trick me into listening to it again?” Shut up, Dave, just go with it.
HEALTH have proved with Addendum that they’ve cornered the niche of danceable dystopian noise rock. Even though this elder millennial just calls it industrial.

Where to find HEALTH
Have you listened to Addendum?
Personally, I found the Chelsea Wolfe song the most engaging – but I’d be keen to know your thoughts.
