Just what the hell is Shellshock?
EC Comics is rotating back into combat — and this time the war is now. Following the fever-dream horror of Shiver Suspenstories, the six-gun grit of Outlaw Showdown, and the twisted romance of Tortured Hearts, the publisher’s next giant-sized special drags its two fist of fury into the 21st century with SHELLSHOCK.
Billed as a 56-page anthology, Shellshock promises brand-new war stories where the deadliest enemy mankind has ever faced turns out to be itself.
It’s a stacked tour of duty. Writers Julio Anta (This Land Is Our Land: A Blue Beetle Story), John Arcudi (B.P.R.D.), Benito Cereno (Invincible Presents: Atom Eve) and Michael W. Conrad (Double Walker) lead the campaign, backed by artists Tom Fowler (EC’s Catacomb of Torment), David Lapham (Stray Bullets), Albert Monteys (Slaughterhouse-Five: The Graphic Novel) and Shawn Martinbrough (Thief of Thieves).
Rounding out the issue, Oni Press/EC Comics has painstakingly remastered and restored another all-time classic from the vault. And with a Lee Bermejo cover leading a small army of variants, there’s plenty to enlist for.
