Archie Andrews will return in Archie #1

Revealed by PEOPLE Magazine on July 2nd, Oni Press and Archie Comic Publications have revealed a first look inside one of 2026’s most anticipated new publishing initiatives… beginning with ARCHIE #1.

This September, a new day is dawning in Riverdale as New York Times bestselling writer, Ben H. Winters (EC’s Cruel Universe, Benjamin) joins multiple Eisner Award–winning artist Fábio Moon (Daytripper, Casanova), rising star artist Nick Cagnetti (Spirit in the Shadows, Pink Lemonade), and multiple Shuster Award-winning cover artist Stuart Immonen (All-New X-Men, New Avengers) to reintroduce America’s favorite teenager. Celebrating Archie’s 85th anniversary with a 21st-century testament to teenage idealism and the limitless joy of Archie Comics.

For his entire life, 17-year-old Archie Andrews has had it all: adoring friends, football glory, and a natural charm that always seems to make him the centre of attention. Now, through his eyes, experience the warmth and wonder of Riverdale and its near-infinite roster of residents — the popular kids, the endearing oddballs, and everyone in between — as Archie embarks on a whirlwind, all-star adventure through his town’s past, present, and future… beginning with a local film festival that’s about to turn everything upside down! And, at the centre of it all, lies an enigmatic paradox that only Archie’s pal Jughead Jones can possibly unravel…

Finally, your antidote for postmodern malaise has arrived. Welcome to the all-new ARCHIE #1!

“One year ago, we started work on what has quickly become one of the most significant and anticipated collaborations in Oni’s 30-year history: our new and ambitious line of titles celebrating the greatness of Archie Comics,” said Oni Press President & Publisher Hunter Gorinson. “Now, we’re proud to welcome a vital new member to that team: the phenomenally talented Ben H. Winters, who is teaming with the brilliant Fábio Moon to deliver an eye-popping, heartstring-pulling ode to what makes these some of the most celebrated characters in the history of comics.

“From ARCHIE to SABRINA and ARCHIE IN HELL, our new comics are brimming with pop and power – from content to design, each issue is intended to be a highly concentrated dose of pure entertainment and unadulterated bliss, propelled by the never-ending energy of Archie’s 85-year legacy.”

“What an extraordinary honor it is to write these stories,” said writer Ben H. Winters. “And more importantly, what a total blast. Archie Andrews is an honest-to-goodness American icon, right up there with Mickey Mouse and Bart Simpson…and just like them, he’s enterprising, curious, and kind, forever bouncing into some new adventure along with his loyal pals. I’m finding these characters delightful to write, for the same reason people have enjoyed reading Archie lo these many years — Riverdale’s just a fun place to hang out.”

The newest member of Oni’s all-star Archie Comics braintrust, Winters is the writer of multiple New York Times bestselling novels, including the acclaimed Last Policeman trilogy (2012–14), Underground Airlines (2016), and Big Time (2024), among many others. In 2019, Winters joined the writing staff of FX’s acclaimed Marvel television series Legion and subsequently created and showran CBS’ #1 hit television series Tracker.

In 2024, Winters made his comic book debut on Oni’s revitalized line of EC Comics as a central writer for Cruel Universe, which debuted to blockbuster sales and subsequently earned an Eisner Award nomination. Winters’ first full-length comics project, Benjamin (with artist Leomacs), was subsequently published to widespread acclaim in 2025. In addition to his work on the ARCHIE ongoing series, Winters is also currently working on his next creator-owned comics project for Oni Press, which will be published in 2027.

In short, he knows his way around a few words.

Sabrina joins in on the Fun

Next: In October, Hugo Award nominee Corinna Bechko (Green Lantern: Earth One, EC’s Blood Type) and Eisner Award nominee Kano (Daredevil, Gotham Central) conjure a new spell of magic and mischief in SABRINA THE TEENAGE WITCH #1! Who’d ever want to be ordinary when you could be a teenage witch instead? Still reeling from the surprise revelation of her secret birthright and with Halloween just around the corner, high schooler Sabrina Spellman is honing her craft one hex at a time and figuring out how to balance her magical new life with the crushing responsibilities of being 16 years old.

But when her feline familiar Salem drops a mythical trickster on Sabrina’s literal doorstep, she might not be able to keep her two worlds from smashing together like two busted pumpkins. No time for fate. No time for destiny. No time for homework. Being a teenager is far from magical . . . even when you’re a witch!

Hell returns to Riverdale

And Finally: In November, the inferno begins in ARCHIE IN HELL #1! In another time, in another Riverdale, Archie Andrews’ radiant life is about to turn pitch black. Separated from his friends and bound by a terrible curse, there’s only one way to save Archie: to damn him. But he won’t be alone for long… In the footsteps of Archie’s hit horror series, Afterlife with Archie, join multiple Eisner Award winner Patrick Horvath (Beneath the Trees Where No One Sees) and Eisner Award nominee Tyler Crook (Out of Alcatraz, Harrow County) as they forge a brand-new legend of Archie horror, leaving a blood-stained trail from 1690 to the present day.

In addition to this collaboration, a new live-action feature film is also on the cards. Written by Eisner Award winner Tom King and produced by Phil Lord & Christopher Miller for Universal Pictures, but you’ll have to stay tuned.
