Deborah Ann Woll’s ‘The Cycle’ is coming Very Soon

Shudder has released stills for Deborah Ann Woll’s (Daredevil, True Blood) upcoming atmospheric horror film, The Cycle. Directed by Jordan Downey and co-written by Downey and Kevin Stewart, The Cycle follows Ann Woll’s character, who begins to unravel the dark past of her father, whose body is discovered at the scene of a horrific crime, after he’s been missing for thirty-six years.

The Cycle also stars Jeffrey Donovan (Burn Notice, Sicario), Will Hochman (Blue Bloods), Jack Doolan (Cockneys vs Zombies), Carl W. Crudup (J.D.’s Revenge), Jeb Berrier (I Don’t Feel At Home in This World Anymore, Sometimes I Think About Dying), Gretchen Corbett (Let’s Scare Jessica to Death), and David Myers Gregory (So Cold the River).

Horror Trivia surrounding Deborah Ann Woll’s Co-Stars

Deborah Ann Woll has famously traversed the plains of both comic book universes (Daredevil) and stupidly-attractive bloodsuckers (True Blood). But in recent years she’s expanded her horror scream queen credentials. Starring in Darren Lynn Bousman’s remake of the 1980 horror film Mother’s Day (2010), about a family of criminals who take a group of friends hostage. Then in Adam Robitel’s Escape Room (2019), where a series of puzzle rooms turns deadly, and its sequel, Escape Room: Tournament of Champions (2021).

But she’s not alone. In fact, a few of her co-stars in The Cycle have run the horror film gamut a few times, to their own credit:

  • Back in 1971, Gretchen Corbett starred in cult-favourite Let’s Scare Jessica to Death, a classic psychological horror film about a woman recovering from a breakdown who suspects something supernatural goings-on at an old farmhouse.
  • A few years later, Carl W. Crudup starred in blaxploitation-horror flick J.D.’s Revenge (1971), about a law student possessed by the spirit of a murdered gangster. He also starred in the anthology film, Horror Noire (2021). Sadly, Carl W. Crudup has passed away in January 2026, making his appearance on The Cycle a posthumous one.
  • Fast forward to the new millennium where Jeffrey Donovan starred in Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2 (2000). The movie that notoriously dropped the found footage format of its predecessor. Instead, following a “Blair Witch Hunt” tour guide and his four tourists. Things go horribly wrong after everyone blacks out, and video tapes turn up, showing the group engaging in hallucinations, paranoia and disturbing visions.
  • Jack Doolan starred in Cockneys vs Zombies (2012), a British horror comedy about a group of East London bank robbers fighting a zombie outbreak. And in the same year he starred in a horror-thriller called The Facility (2012).
  • And finally, David Myers Gregory starred in So Cold the River (2022), a supernatural horror thriller based on Michael Koryta‘s novel, which is set around a haunted mineral spring in Indiana. It follows a documentary filmmaker who’s hired to profile a dying millionaire. The documentarian travels to the millionaires Indiana resort town, where drinking water from an antique bottle of spring water triggers terrifying visions and unleashes evil.

As you can see, horror is well-within the wheelhouse of this group of seasoned actors and actresses.
