Who’s Kat Wilder?

If you’ve been following the Australian metal scene for the past several years, Kat Wilder‘s name is not new to you. As the voice behind power metal outfit Horizons Edge, she spent the better part of a decade building a reputation that extended well beyond the local circuit — three studio albums, national touring, and shared stages with genre legends like Helloween, Ross The Boss and Primal Fear. Their final release even cracked the German Rock and Metal charts for ten weeks – and we all know how much those Germans love their Power Metal.

Now she’s out on her own. And right out of the gate, she’s not easing anyone in gently.

How does it land?

Debut solo single, To Hell With You, does all the heavy lifting in terms of telling you what headspace we’re in. The track is a direct, unapologetic shove back at anyone who uses power or position to intimidate, belittle or silence the people around them. A clear message delivered with conviction.

Sonically, it leans into old school metal — the kind that doesn’t overcook itself trying to be clever. It’s instinctive, weighty, and carries that specific energy that only shows up when someone is writing from a real place rather than a formula. There’s a reason classic metal hits different when it’s done right, and this is a pretty strong argument for that.
